The lower height of the kodai base, one of the features of Japanese tableware, allows the vessel to fit comfortably in your hand, complementing a variety of tableware.
A slightly deeper form allows sauce-laden dishes, pasta, and curry to be served efficiently. Meanwhile, the bowls are shallow and can accommodate everything from salads to stir-fries to noodles and rice.
